The concept was borne out of a house "lime" in the 1980¡¯s that took place in Diamond Vale on the corner of Diamond Boulevard (now Wendy Fitzwilliam Boulevard) and Tiara. The "lime" that typically commenced just after announcement of the National Panorama Final results. The lime would therefore kick off around 4 am as Panorama went into the early morning hours in those days and would probably end at 8 or 9 am. The lime would be a "bring a bottle" arrangement with some light snacks provided by the organizers. A group of friends, including Wayne Henry and Colin Thompson, would frequently attend this after panorama lime year after year. Prior to the Carnival of 1994, Wayne was alerted to the fact that the lime would no longer be continued by the then organizers as they were tired of hosting it. Wayne then discussed with family members and a few friends the need to continue this great tradition on our own to keep the Vale Vibe alive. That year was the first year the party was hosted at its still current home of 31 Amethyst Avenue, Diamond Vale. It continued in its current format as a "bring yuh bottle" and invitation was spread via word of mouth to other attendees of the other lime about the venue change. The first year saw about 75 to 90 family and friends hang out in the garage / front lawn and have a great time well into the morning." I remember seeing flags from Cayman, Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad, the Cayman crew were on the wall dancing waving their flag then others followed. The event had such a euphoric atmosphere in the air and still is amazing to this very day." In order to enhance the variety of drinks available and better cater to the patrons it was suggested by Colin and agreed to by the committee to pre-sell tickets for the event. Marcia would handle food, Anthony security and infrastructure, Wayne gates and PR, and Colin, Lenny Leggard, Kirk Seabrun, Mark Jeremy and Beaumont Celestine bar duties. It was now an "all-inclusive". It grew steadily over the years and even had "offspring" including most famously "Insomnia", "Dawn" and the current "Sunny side up" all from former patrons who for one reason or another felt the need to go it on their own. The current party has grown to over 1,500 patrons in spite of never once advertising the party. Spill over patrons go grudgingly to the other breakfast events and so most of them are successful in terms of attendance but there remains only one benchmark¡"The Original Vale Breakfast Party¡ValeVibe." Present The friends and neighbors of Amethyst have been hosting the annual Breakfast Party. "The beauty of this party is the intimate atmosphere where friends gather. There is a feeling of constant excitement from beginning to end, because you see friends you have not seen for so long, not forgetting the new acquaintances that blossoms into life time friendships. It can be described as the opportunity for fun, family, fellowship and the freedom to enjoy oneself to the max, in a familiar, safe and homely environment. Because of this the demand for tickets heavily outweighs the supply; we are faced with our greatest challenge of sourcing tickets. We therefore try to accommodate the regular patrons who seek their tickets sometimes a year in advance. Also one of our main objectives is to maintain the quality of the event for our patrons and not take on the complexion of a large pubic "fete." We would love to have everyone but the reality is that it is just not possible.¡¯ Philanthropy In 1995 after the first all-inclusive a friend in the neighborhood died in an accident and we decided to give all of the funds to his family as a form of support, from this point onwards we have been committed to helping people with medical needs, the elderly and others in the area.. We believe the people who are still with us or those who have passed on are blessing us with their positive "vibe." Only the people who have ever attended "D Original Vale Breakfast Party" can tell you about this special Vale Vibe that they have experienced. Going Forward D Original Vale Breakfast Party "is an experience like no other," our aim is to continue to enhance the Trinidad experience and to export this Vibe outside of Trinidad.
